Energy is the raw material of the global economy, heavily dependent on geopolitics and with a strong influence on climate. The energy transition is a major industrial, economic and social challenge, as we move from a fossil-fuel society to a low-carbon society. It implies relying on three pillars: energy efficiency, sober consumption and electrification of uses. The latter requires the use of low-carbon primary energy sources, such as renewables and nuclear power. The conference will explore some reasonable possibilities for building a low-carbon energy mix by 2050.
