The Mairie created a group of volunteer teachers and history buffs, and held a public meeting to reach out to as many enthusiasts as possible. Once the group was set up, we went together to the archives of the Manche department, the communal archives and the Archives Division for Victims of Contemporary Conflicts, and collected testimonies from Carolles residents who had lived through the Occupation and the Liberation.
