The Adobo Festival is one of many cultural happenings in Silay City often held during the celebration of Negros Day or Cinco De Noviembre --- which marks the full independence of Negros from Spanish rule. The festival has been celebrating the iconic Filipino dish for two decades already. The main event of course is the Adobo cooking competition where participants have to prepare the dish with their own unique twist to the traditional recipe. The purpose for this event is to keep the Filipino Adobo recipe alive for the next generation Aside from the cooking competition which usually takes up the whole day, local craftsmen also get to display their products and cultural performers showcase their talents.
