Join us for a fundraising evening of eye-opening discussion and education as we gather for a special screening of US documentary "Below the Belt" - from Executive Producers Hillary Clinton and Rosario Dawson - followed by a fireside chat and Q&A featuring Emma Ullvin, endometriosis advocate and well-being expert, and Bárbara Vieira, Board of MulherEndo, the Portuguese Association for Women with Endometriosis. Light refreshments and snacks will be served.

(The event and documentary will be in English, and the documentary will also have Portuguese subtitles).

Below the Belt: A film to change endometriosis

"This film will save lives.” PEOPLE

Affecting approximately one in 10 women globally, endometriosis can cause debilitating pain for sufferers. However, both culturally and medically, it’s not a widely recognized condition.

As four patients urgently search for answers to mysterious symptoms, Below the Belt exposes widespread problems in our healthcare systems that disproportionately affect women. From societal taboos and gender bias to misinformed doctors and financial barriers to care, the film reveals how millions are silenced and how, by fighting back, we can improve healthcare for everyone.

Why it matters:

Endometriosis is behind 50% of infertility cases
Symptoms can include difficult periods and cycles, IBS, painful sex, fatigue, and so much more
It takes on average 8 years from onset of symptoms to get a diagnosis
The cause is still unknown and there is no definite cure
