Pre-course Requirements:
Use the following steps to access the Student Resources BEFORE your scheduled course date.
1. Visit https://elearning.heart.org/course/426
2. Once you find your course, select Launch Course to begin. Note: If you haven’t already logged in, the system will ask you to do so. If you haven’t visited the site before, you’ll be prompted to set up an account.
4. Plan on this taking 2-3 hours to complete. The Pre-course Self-Assessment test consists of 3 sections: ECG rhythm identification, pharmacology, and practical application. Use this assessment to identify areas where you need to increase your knowledge and review in your book. You can complete the Pre-course Self-Assessment as many times as needed to achieve the recommended values:
· Physician/RN/Paramedic: 90%
· LVN /AEMT: 80%
· EMT/Other: 70%
You must pass the pre-course self-assessment before gaining access to the video lessons. Once you have passed the ACLS Pre-course Self-Assessment and completed the video lessons, print your certificate, and bring it with you to class. Watching the pre-course videos beforehand frees up classroom time for a more hands-on skills learning experience.
Things to Remember:
· Bring your pre-course completion certificate with you to class to turn in.
· Bring your PALS Provider Manual to each class. You will need it during each lesson in the course.
· At the beginning of the first day of your PALS Course, you will be tested on pedatric/infant high-quality BLS skills, using a feedback manikin. You must know these skills in advance because the PALS Course will not teach you how to do CPR or use an AED.
· Be familiar with the PALS ECG Rhythms, algorithms and flowcharts so that you can apply them to clinical scenarios. Be prepared to pass clinical scenarios in which you are the lead provider.
· Please wear loose, comfortable clothing to class. You will be practicing skills that require you to work on your hands and knees, and the course requires bending, standing, and lifting. If you have any physical condition that might prevent you from engaging in these activities, please tell an instructor
We look forward to welcoming you on April 23rd & 24th! If you have any questions about the course, please call Timberly Lomeli, Lead Instructor at (806) 659-2535 Ext. 3922
