The Sand Ridge trail provides incredible views of the Deschutes Canyon. While enjoying the scenery, we will be looking for early wildflowers. It would be helpful if you bring your FANs Guide to Common Native Plants field guide. (Also available for purchase at the beginning of the hike—$15 members, $20 non-members.)
We will be hiking the trail to Sundown Canyon and the trail can be narrow in places with rocks to navigate. Bring snacks, water, hiking poles, sunscreen and wear sturdy boots or hiking shoes. No pets are allowed on this hike.
This is a free hike, limited to eight participants and registration is required. If the hike is full, add your name to the waiting list. It is not unusual for folks to cancel as the day of the hike approaches. We will contact you if space develops.
DIRECTIONS: From Redmond, follow Hwy. 97 north through Terrebonne. Turn left onto Lower Bridge Road. In 2.2 miles, turn right on NW 43rd Street. In 1.8 miles turn left onto Chinook Drive. Pass the “Welcome to CRR” sign on the right and take the next left onto Badger Road. In 1.8 miles turn right at the T-intersection and follow Quail Road for 3.6 miles to Shad Road. Turn left on Shad. In .6 mile turn left onto Canary. In .4 mile, turn right onto Sand Ridge Road. In .9 mile turn left into a small parking area with a CRR Trail sign.
