Fight against Darkness & The Brain Quadrant

Location: Garfield County Sheriff's Office

Address: 216 W Oxford Ave, Enid, OK 73701

Date: 6 Nov

The Brain Quadrant is a presentation providing a description on how drugs and alcohol interact with the human brain, causing it to become dysfunctional and erratic. This presentation also educates participants on the importance of neurotransmitters and the role it plays in brain function. Participants will learn how increased or decreased neuronic transmission causes the person’s mood to either be elevated (euphoria) or decreased (dysphoria). This presentation will help participants to better understand synaptic functions, and how the flooding of stimuli in the synaptic gap has the potential to cause psychotic and/or manic symptoms. This presentation will also enlighten participants on neuronic activities, if electric or chemical, and how neurotransmission occurs in between neurons. Finally, this presentation is an excellent tool in explaining to law enforcement personnel, how mental illness actually happens inside the human brain.
