Are you interested in learning about honey bees and beekeeping but not sure if you want to make the investment yet? Perhaps you are looking for an opportunity to work with honey bees and experienced beekeepers to hone your skills.
IF SO, JOIN US FOR THE ANNUAL SPRING HIVE DIVE!
The SPRING HIVE DIVE is an informal day in the bee yard with the coordinator of Clemson’s Apiculture and Pollinator Program. This immersive experience will give students an opportunity to learn about honey bee biology and management as we work the hives at the Pee Dee Research Station. No matter your level of comfort and experience, we have you covered... literally! The program will provide all protective gear and equipment and will provide instruction on how to handle honey bees safely. The program coordinator, Ben Powell, will be joined by experienced beekeeper volunteers that will work closely with participants to provide exceptional instruction and guidance. We understand everyone has a busy schedule, so participants are welcome to join us for as little or as long as they like. The bee yard will be open from 12 noon to 5 PM.
The program is free of charge, but space and equipment are limited. Also, refreshments will be provided. We ask for participants register by April 19th, 2024. Should you require special accommodations due to a disability, please notify our office prior to the event.
Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service offers its programs to people of all ages, regardless of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital or family status and is an equal opportunity employer.
