We will carpool from the Safeway parking lot near downtown GV, meeting at 5:15 AM and leaving the parking lot by 5:30 AM. We'll organize the vehicles then drive the 2.5 hours through Lake Tahoe to Gardnerville NV. From there, we'll drive out to the BLM land east of Gardnerville to locate and photograph the wild horses.

Drivers will need vehicles that can drive offroad. High clearance isn't necessary, but 4wd is appreciated.

We want to leave early because the horses are more active in the early morning and late in the day, plus we want to avoid the hotter part of the day as we may be shooting with long telephoto focal lengths and want to minimize the heat waves that will show up in long telephoto pictures.

The herd may be far from us so a long telephoto lens is helpful (up to 600mm) but not mandatory.

Please bring some cash to share with the driver for gas.Also please pack a bag lunch, snacks and bring water/drinks for your day. We will eat in the field.
