2024 UGA Extension Henry Master Naturalist Program

UGA Extension Henry County is offering the Georgia Master Naturalist Program, which is a series of weekly programs with specific environmental topics that is hands-on environmental exploring habitats and ecosystems in Georgia and how human activity impacts on those environments. This program is a combination of lectures and both indoors and outdoors hands-on learning through field studies and relevant resources. An informed person can help make changes in their lives as well as their community and safeguard the environment. After completing this fun and interactive program, Georgia Master Naturalists are encouraged to share their knowledge with their communities by volunteering in local schools or nature centers.

The program covers diverse topics such as insects and pollinators, geology, soil science, native and invasive plants, wildlife, stream ecology, and other topics.

The Master Naturalist Program will be once a week starting on Tuesday, April 2 and continues until Thursday, May 30. We will meet from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with an hour for lunch. The program will be held at the UGA Extension Henry County office, 97 Lake Dow Road, McDonough, GA 30252 and several other places of interest including Panola Mountain and the Newmans Wetlands Center in Hampton. Directions to those locations will be provided.

Cost: $250.00 per person and covers all books, supplies, activities, and a catered lunch on the last day of the program. Registration deadline is Wednesday, March 27. No refunds will be given after March 25.
