The position of Field Training Officer (FTO) is often the first rung on the career ladder for a paramedic. Many agencies appoint paramedics as FTO with no preparation except for their prior field experience. The three-day Basic FTO course will introduce the prospective FTO to the structure, tools, techniques, and concepts of EMS-FTEP™. It will provide instruction in adult learning principles, coaching, evaluation, giving feedback, and documenting trainee performance using EMS-FTEP™ tools. This includes Standardized Evaluation Guidelines, Recruit Training Manual, and Daily Observation Reports.
