Yes, the powdercoat will do fine with the gas, but, you have to start with bare mettal tanks that are perfect! bondo will melt in the oven and so will lead.

My powdercoater chemically stripped the tank to see if there was any filler or solder. You will not get a very smooth glassy look like traditional paint.
