I use 2x2 angle aluminum for a saw guide and juice groove jig works great! Don't use it for router sled though flexes to easily.

Your miter saw will cut aluminum angle just fine. Don't use your best finish blade when you cut it use a old blade that you don't care if it gets trashed.
