I feel like Long Beach is very different from Los Angeles proper, and to be completely honest, I do not like Los Angeles and don't want to claim it as my HQ.

Long Beach is part of Los Angeles county. Long Beach is self-sufficient and self-governing. It is NOT part of LA. LA doesn't stretch that far.
