To fall. Falling head over heels, falling in love, falling ill, falling pregnant, falling hard, falling out of the sky, falling on top of someone, falling out of bed? Whether we like it or not, falling is an inherent part of our lives, from our first hesitant steps as children to the emotional ruptures that send us over the edge.
Falling, getting up, moving on - that's how we grow. Jules Houdin and Guilhem Charrier have seized on this notion of falling, both literally and figuratively, to draw a metaphor between their acrobatic careers and their lives. Who better to talk about it than circus artists, who practice it on a daily basis.
The two twirl the idea that a fall is a failure. "Au comment était la chute" is a joyous nose-thumbing at our failures, an inexhaustible eulogy of the art of reinventing oneself in order to move forward.
