Epidermal growth factor receptor
ProteinThe epidermal growth factor receptor is a transmembrane protein that is a receptor for members of the epidermal growth factor family of extracellular protein ligands.
ERBB3
ProteinReceptor tyrosine-protein kinase erbB-3, also known as HER3, is a membrane bound protein that in humans is encoded by the ERBB3 gene. ErbB3 is a member of the epidermal growth factor receptor family of receptor tyrosine kinases.
HER2
ProteinReceptor tyrosine-protein kinase erbB-2 is a protein that normally resides in the membranes of cells and is encoded by the ERBB2 gene. ERBB is abbreviated from erythroblastic oncogene B, a gene originally isolated from the avian genome. The human protein is also frequently referred to as HER2 or CD340. HER2 is a member of the human epidermal growth factor receptor family. But contrary to other members of the ERBB family, HER2 does not directly bind ligand.
Epidermal growth factor
ProteinEpidermal growth factor is a protein that stimulates cell growth and differentiation by binding to its receptor, EGFR. Human EGF is 6-kDa and has 53 amino acid residues and three intramolecular disulfide bonds.
Growth factor receptor inhibitor
Growth factor receptor inhibitors are drugs that target the growth factor receptors of cells. They interfere with binding of the growth factor to the corresponding growth factor receptors, impeding cell growth and are used medically to treat cancer.
GRB2
ProteinGrowth factor receptor-bound protein 2, also known as Grb2, is an adaptor protein involved in signal transduction/cell communication. In humans, the GRB2 protein is encoded by the GRB2 gene.
